Requirements
1. Prelude and Fugue in G Major, BWV 541 - J.S. Bach
2. Andante Sostenuto, from Symphonie Gothique - Ch. M. Widor
3. A major work of your choice, written after 1937
*Your three repertoire choices may not exceed 30 minutes of music.
4. Hymn
All applicants are required to submit a high quality recording of ‘Love Divine, All Loves Excelling’ set to Hyfrydol as it appears in the Episcopal Hymnal 1982 (Church Publishing Corp). Recordings should include a creative introduction and all verses, demonstrating sensitivity to the text.
Hymn Playing Competition
In addition to the repertoire competition, finalists will be play an assigned hymn during a Festival Sunday Eucharist (Episcopal) at Trinity College Chapel. After the service, one competitor will be awarded the $1000 David Spicer Hymn Playing Award. This competition will be judged by Christopher Houlihan, Claire Burnett and Vaughn Mauren.
